RJH Student 2 Student Program
What is S2S?
Student to Student is a new program at Rolla Junior High . Our focus is simple. We want to make new students feel that they are part of the Rolla Jr. High School and the community as quickly as possible.
The S 2 Student Initiative ( S2S) meets very real needs of transitional students.
- Immediate Peer Credibility
- Positive Peer Relationships
- Valued Information
A team of our students is trained to provide leadership in training other students on methods to support students who are transitioning to our school. We can also help students leaving our school to make contact with similar programs in their new school. Our team is composed of faculty advisers and students. The focus is student centered, and is student led with close supervision.
We focus on three areas of transition:
- Academics : Getting students to the right people to sort out tests, courses, credits, graduation requirements and similar issues.
- Relationships : Getting students to the right people so they can participate in school and community activities and make new friends . . . with a focus on linking them to people and activities with similar interests. Example : Getting students interested in the performing arts to drama club, band, or vocal department.
- Finding the Way : Getting students familiar with school and community so that they can find people places, and activities in their new home.

Our S2S Motto
What Does RJH S2S Do?
- We assist our new students in several ways.
- S2S welcomes each new student coming to RJH by having an S2S member give a guided tour of the school. On the tour, new students get acquainted with the lay of land and meet all the key people in the school as well as their teachers. New students are also escorted from class to class throughout their first day.
- S2S members eat lunch with the new student and make sure they get to their bus after school.
- S2S provides each new students with a ditty bag that is packed with information about RJH and the “hot spots” in Rolla.
- We host “ New Student Breakfasts” on a regular basis to keep us in contact with the new student and to be sure they are settling in to their new school environment.
- We address any problem they may encounter.
- We have also incorporated a community service aspect to S2S. We feel that all students should learn the importance of taking care of those in our community that are in need. It is through participation in these community service projects, we hope that new students will feel like they belong and they are an integral part of the RJH school community. We also want to remember students in the school community who have deployed family members. It is our responsibility to take care of these students and care for their needs while their family members are away. S2S placed a Blue Star Banner in the front hall in honor of those who are serving.
- September 29th - sponsored New Student Breakfast to welcome new students to RJH.
