John Slowensky
Director
Mr. John Slowensky's is in his eleventh year as head Band Director for Rolla Public Schools. John Slowensky was raised in Steelville, Mo. He attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. where he earned his Bachelor of Science in music education in May of 1995. Prior to teaching in Rolla, Mr. Slowensky was the band director in the Richland and St. James Public Schools. Throughout his career he has performed, taught, and traveled all over the United States and most of Europe. Mr. Slowensky has studied conducting and his primary instrument is the trumpet. Mr. Slowensky has studied music with many accomplished names in music such as; Colnel John Bourgeois, Professor Keith House, Trumpeter Bob Ceccerreni and others.
Mr. Slowensky maintains professional membership in Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA), Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA), Phi Beta Mu, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Outside of band, he loves to hunt and be outside on the farm working with his cattle. Mr. Slowensky and wife Molly have one daughter Riley Lynn.
Michael Goldschmidt
Assistant Director
Mr. Michael Goldschmidt graduated from Missouri State University in 2011 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. As a musician, Mr. Goldschmidt has perfomed with the Missouri State Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Bands, Brass and Sass, and served as a Drum Major for the Pride Marching Band. He loves to play tuba in any setting, especially the occasional Dixieland Combo. His current classes include Marching Band, Concert Band, 7th Grade Low Brass and Flute, 8th Grade Band, and Audio Engineering.
Mr. Goldschmidt loves running, hiking, ultimate frisbee, and spending time with his wife Casey and dog Luna.
