This is going to be a wonderful school year and I am very excited about having such a great group of students! 

On the first day of Art or Art Appreciation each student will be given a welcome letter.  This talks about what we will be covering in Visual Arts and Art Appreciation.  The welcome letter will also give my contact information, our grading system, and it shows my discipline procedure.  I always ask my students to have their parent read the letter, sign it, and turn it in to me within the next week. 

I have recently started utilizing an amazing online art source called Artsonia.  Students will receive a permission slip the first day of class that explains the site and asks for parent permission to participate in Artsonia.  Basically it involves photographing a piece of art from each student and putting it on the site so that each student has their own online art portfolio.  Family and friends can then view their child's art, make positive comments about it, and even purchase items with the art printed on it.  This portfolio will then have art added to it as they progress through Middle School to the High School.  I have included a link to the site below if you wish to check it out.
