Art Projects
Kindergarten began the month of January by learning how to cut paper snowflakes. Another project the kindergarten is working on is a crayon/watercolor resist. For this process the students color with oil pastel or crayon then paint over the top with watercolor or cake tempera.
First grade began the month of January by cutting paper snowflakes. The students then used the snowflakes for a cut paper collage. The snowflakes were arranged by size and then details were cut and glued from colored paper for details. The finished collage is a snowflake snowman!
Second grade begain the month of January by cutting paper snowflakes. They used these snowflakes to create a collage. The students cut paper for a landscape and then added the snowflakes to the sky. They finished the piece by adding felt tip pen detail.
Third grade students ended last semester with clay. Each student made a 'Birdie' pinch pot and boy are they awesome! They began by making a pinch pot and then added a head, wings, tail and feather texture. Once the pots were fired in the kiln, the students glazed their pot. Look for these to come home soon. The third grade began January by making a radial balance 3-dimensional snowflake. So fun!
Fourth grade students began the month of January by making a kaleidoscope radial balance design. They used folded tissue paper. We are now getting ready to make clay masks. They are super excited about this project! So am I!
