Volunteer Opportunities

Rolla Public Schools need people with a sincere interest in helping students. The time commitment varies considerably. Some volunteers spend one or more hours each week on an assignment, while others are called occasionally and come at his/her convenience to help.

Weekly assignments include:

  • Listen to a child read
  • Guide students in completing assignments
  • Be a mentor or tutor
  • Aid in academic areas:  math, science, reading, history
  • Assist classroom teachers, library/media center, nurse's office, counselor's office
  • Help with computer instruction
  • Lunch room assistant
  • Reproduce materials or help teachers with clerical tasks
  • Assist students with "English as a Second Language"

"On-call" assignments include:

  • Give an enrichment talk (share ethnic background, discuss an occupation, demonstrate a musical instrument)
  • Help with health / kindergarten screenings
  • Run copy machine
  • Assist with special classroom projects
  • Typing
  • Collate and staple books

All Rolla schools warmly welcome volunteers and value their contributions!  Contact Jenni Hushaw anytime during the school year.  It's never too late to join BRAVO!
