What is Notebook?
Notebook is an interactive program that works with our SmartBoards in the room. It is similar to PowerPoint but much better at delivering content in a highly engaging and interactive way. Many time, Mr. Wright will create Notebook files to be used in class. Sometimes it might be helpful to have access to those lessons at home on the student's home computer.
Can We Use Notebook at Home?
Yes you can! Smart Notebook can be used at home by any teacher or student who is in a district where they have SmartBoards. Free of charge! There are two methods to do this.
First, you can use the online Notebook program.
- Download the Notebook file and save it on your computer. Remember where you saved it.
- Go to http://express.smarttech.com and it will ask you if you want to open an existing file or start a new one.
- Choose Open existing and go to the file you saved and select it. The file should load. Changes can not be saved with Notebook Express.
You second option is installing Notebook on your home computer:
- Step 1: Go to Smart's website to download the Smart Notebook software by clicking here. Under the heading Smart Notebook, choose your Operating System. Then scroll down and find SMART Notebook software 10 (software only) with service pack 1. Follow the directions there on how to download. You will obtain your Product code from Mr. Wright.
- Step 2: E-mail Mr. Wright and let him know that you have downloaded and installed Notebook and that you need a product code. Mr. Wright will e-mail back with the code needed to activitate the software. Otherwise, the software will only work for 30 days.
- Now you can create your own files or download some that Mr. Wright has made to use on your own computer.
Please note: According to the terms of usage, if you move out of the district into a district without SmartBoards, you will need to uninstal Smart Notebook.
Also note: The full installation is a LARGE file and can take awhile on a high speed connection and it would take forever on a dail-up connection.
